Here is the result of my lunch search yesterday.
Let me preface by saying I have a hard time accepting fruit in my savory meals. Like I almost picked around strawberries in a gourmet goat cheese salad. I know, blasphemy! I went from choking them down to just beginning to understand what all the fuss was about. Suffice it to say savory fruits are not my first choice. But upon seeing so many fruit n’ brie sandwiches on the web recently, I decided to give this combo a chance.
Funny how they spelled Ciabatta bread. Wait, let me google…Okay, I thought so.
Halfway through, I realized that the bun wasn’t all that and I would likely have my fill of awesome carbs at my Italian dinner date later, so I made the executive decision to nix the top bun.
I thought these sandwiches were supposed to be made with fresh apples, no? Mine had baked apples. Which was actually super tasty for a fruit sandwich noob such as myself.
Later in the afternoon I needed a pick me up so I turned to my emergency stash Larabar. I now realize I was probably just trying to avoid work. Thanks for the reminder Julie.
My Italian dinner date ended up at the Macaroni Grill. I love this place. I’ve only been a few times, but every time I’ve had a super pleasant experience and delicious food. Plus, they give you crayons to draw on the entire table cover. Yes, I’m five years old sometimes.
Appetizer: Goat Cheese Peppadew Peppers
Tangy sweet roasted peppers stuffed with goat cheese. Yes please!
For my entree I rolled with the Spring Seasonal special: Chicken Julia
Grilled chicken over top mashed potatoes, veggie ragout (fancy way of saying french stew), goat cheese, and topped with crispy onions. MMM…leftovers are definitely packed for lunch today
My date was full from eating a ton of pasta with meatballs, but this lady wanted her dessert!
My froyo to-go: Soybean vanilla froyo topped with strawberries. I didn’t know soy milk froyo existed! Now I have no lactose intolerant excuses to not indulge more often.
In other news, it has been two whole days since I have worked up a sweat. For my sanity this cannot continue much longer. I hope the weather continues to behave because I am itching to run my pants off tonight
Things I’m working on:
What sort of culinary masterpiece blogger recipe will I celebrate Father’s Day with this weekend?
What are the finishing touches to my pen pal goodie box?

I can’t wait for the weekend!
