We interrupt regularly scheduled food/running/yoga programming to bring you this crazy epiphany I had during my Stir Crazy night.
Have you ever had an Aha! moment that felt too spooky to be real?
Well, 18 year old Minerva just sent 24 year old Minerva a message that has been heard, loud and clear!
I kid you not when I say that I never made these connections ever before.
I was a great high school student and a so-so college student. I studied accounting in college, a field I knew would be a very stable and financially compensating career choice. I knew the safe road and I took it.
Since I graduated college in 2009 I’ve been toggling back and forth with the decision to become a CPA or get an MBA; anything to make myself more marketable in the business world. I was confused and taking so long to decide that I joined Integrative Nutrition on a whim, because it interested me and would keep me busy. I was beginning to realize that my heart just hadn’t been into the Accounting/Business path for a while.
I wasn’t sure before if I made the right decision but last night I received two clues from 18 year old Minerva that lead me to believe I was destined to become part of the IIN crowd all along.
The first clue was a research paper we were assigned to do senior year in high school. The topic could be anything. You could choose anything under the sun that would allow you to complete detailed research. My topic? The Medicinal Effects of Garlic. What 17 year old Minerva was thinking at the time to pick a food-body connection topic, I haven’t a clue.
The second clue was my final paper for English 101 freshman year of college. Again, we were given complete freedom as to the topic choice. What did 18 year old Minerva choose? Genetically Modified Foods: Are they Harmful? Strange isn’t it?
I don’t know why I never considered nutrition or wellness counseling as viable career options before. I’m sad to think that I negated my gut feelings in favor of a stable career path. Here I am now at 24, starting to cultivate a formal understanding of nutrition and wellness when all along I always knew where I was destined to be. I still don’t know exactly what I’ll do with this knowledge, but at least I know I’m in the right place.
If you read this far, thanks for reading about my Aha! moment.
In case you were wondering. I never did get to sweat last night. Instead I took the evening to slow down, reflect, study, and eat well.
Dinner:
Eggs tacos with diced red pepper, hummus cheez (hummus mixed with nooch), and avocado. The eggs and red peppers were scrambled together with a splash of Bragg’s Liquid Aminos and lots of Sriracha sauce.
Dessert:
Cookie dough yogurt. Goat yogurt, scoop of sun warrior vanilla, 2T PB2, splashes of almond milk, and chocolate chips.
Breakfast today is a banana and a goat yogurt parfait with frozen bloobs, chunky peanut butter, and a some vanilla stevia drops. Iced coffee with almond milk on the side.
Since I have Olive Garden plans for dinner I’ll likely scavenge for a light lunch today to save room for the good stuff!

I love those Aha! moments! Those are the moments that tell you what you should be doing (based on happiness) regardless of what may be the safe choice! Congrats on decides to enroll in IIN – sounds amazing!
Thank you Stefanie! <3
